recently i was introduced to savetoby.com by your friend and mine, john cogill. i'm feeling very up in the air about the whole thing. These guys are threatening to kill and devour a rabbit for thanksgiving in 2006 unless they recieve fifty grand. One on hand, this is quite deplorable and fills me with disgust. On the other hand, there are people willing to shell out cash money so one rabbit doesn't get slaughtered and eaten, which is ridiculous and fills me with disgust. For that, I have to admire these two. They've successfully played to one of humanity's weakest points: the love of all things small and fuzzy.
Now, I've eaten rabbit before. It's similar to chicken (like everything is) but it has a sort of kick to it that you don't find in poultry, and I've found it to be quite tasty. Can I feel outrage and disgust over someone wanting to eat this animal? No, of course not. But can I feel outrage and disgust over these guys milking the gullible public? Logically, I have to say no. Milking the public for every dime that you can is the basis of the american economic system. These guys are just taking it to a new(ish) level. They're not doing anything illegal, certainly it's immoral, but how immoral is it?
I find myself in a quandry. I don't really know what to think about it.
